Brief History

Stewart Nestel first gained prominence with a group called The Battered Hearts who regularly performed in Sydney in the 1980s.

Stewart then started a band called A Happy Family, a satirical name based on angst regarding family life. This band landed a record deal and released a single with Melbourne-based record label Au-Go-Go records. A Happy Family eventually relocated to the UK.

Later, Stewart joined up with Monika Branagan forming Moniker in 1996 who released 2 EPs and toured extensively through Western Europe for the next 4 years.

After a significant hiatus, Stewart Nestel released a solo album called Stewart Says in 2010 and has continued with occasional live performances since that time. A highlight includes performing in Shanghai, China in 2016.
